Google's Future Cool

With Google buying Motorola everyone is wondering what the impact will be on other Android manufacturers.
The answer none. Firstly, Google has been in a panic ever since it bought YouTube wondering how it could make more money and making sure that someone else didn't buy it ahead of them .
Of course, without being evil.
It's stated strategy since March last year has been mobile first.
Only that it isn't. Google is essentially an engineering company that has bolted on a couple of products - go faster stripes if you will - to make the original product look cool.
It missed out on buying Nortel patents for mobile - so now it is trying to get some from Motorola and see if there is anything there that can make the product look great.
Android is a spoiler, google+ is 'copy me' - though there are some cool bits, and buying Admeld is just taking back what people have done with google in terms of RTB.

Everybody is going mobile, but at the end of the day (and day being the operative word here) is that there is only so much media fragementation, media meshing and media in general that people can consume in any 24 hour given period(I'll rant about about SNS another time).

Android share is now significantly larger than Apple - yeah because it's on more handsets and across more manufacturers - but how many people use it? And for what ? Oh right search - which is where we started - a bolt on to an existing product.
There's nothing wrong with that - only don't say it's something different when it's not.
Next stop iPhone 5 - what new innovation will that have - SD cards? (yes, I am being ironical here)
