I have full confidence in myself. Most people think it, some think I'm deluded - but hey that's me.
The only problem is I don't run the country, I haven't been at the helm of a government over the last 12 or so years that led the Irish nation to unforeseen fortunes (part of the problem) and unforeseen state losses(another part of the problem).
I haven't looked back at the end of the year to look at my budget for the the following year and found an addition €2.5 billion to spend, without knowing where it came from, yet I have full confidence in myself.
I don't play golf, as I can't afford the membership never mind the time to go golfing. I've changed jobs a couple of times over the last few years, but have no guaranteed pension and what I have invested in pension funds is worthless, yet I have full confidence in myself.
I have taken pay cuts and if I want to claim any expenses I must show receipts. I don't have a chauffeur driven car that gets changed every three years, but I do have confidence in myself.
I haven't had any promotions in the last five years and I am working harder than ever, but I do have confidence in myself.
I believe I am qualified for my job as I was interviewed for the job in hand and took the risk of changing jobs, so I must have confidence in myself.
I say all this on what is regarded as the most depressing day of the year - my confidence will see me through.
(Apologies to Mr. Mark Antony Esq., Roman Empire)
