At long last I have rediscovered my identity!
Spent most of the day at Media 2020 in Croke Park yesterday.
A great array of speakers - all kept on a tight speaking rein - 'รก la' Oscars with red light/greenlight activity management.
One thing - looking at the future? I don't think so.
Everybody is talking about QR codes - this is stuff that's five years old.
Geo Location tracking on your mobile?
Bot Fighter had that 12 years ago.
Which makes me wonder is the Irish media market really advancing with the rest of the world or is it just waiting for the world economy to pick up again and go back to grandiose days of spend, spend, spend because everybody else is?
One thing I thought was cute - the IKEA ad - using simple things that appear innovative.
And maybe that's where we should start - the Irish economy will not get back to where it was because it was a fake economy (enron has nothing on this). Looking for the next 'big' thing may not happen, will not happen. Tighter regulation will prevent this - for all the right and wrong reasons, so we must look at simple, quick and feasible options.
And move on them.
The recession is boring, move on.
